Native Nashville Homes: Real Estate Talk from the Comfort of My Laptop: Ringside 2009 - A Fight for Kids!

Ringside 2009 - A Fight for Kids!

I had the distinct pleasure of attending the 5th Annual Ringside:  A Fight for Kids on Friday night, March 13.  This was the first time I had attended one of these events.  It was a huge amount of fun - the first time I had ever been to a black tie and boxing event!

A fundraiser for the Charley Foundation, the night was kicked off with Anna Wilson performing - I hate to say that I missed this - I was late :( - I am sure it was wonderful.  But I did arrive in time to hear Jaxon Ford perform the National Anthem.

Then our attention was turned to see the first boxing match, which featured Yolexcys Leiva of Nashville and Dwartney Wortham of Georgia.  Ok, I have to admit that I know nothing about boxing and still really don't.  But somebody broke or injured their wrist in one of the first couple of rounds and they had to stop.

That is when Bridgette Tatum, backed by Danny Myrick and a drummer (sorry, I cannot recall his name) took the stage and I was really impressed!  Bridgette puts on quite a show - she performed a great lineup of songs and was all heart!

She was then joined by Eric Timothy French, Jr. who is an amazing pianist for such a young fella!

The food was delicious - prepared by Chef Michael Swann - a delicious salad with pears, goat cheese and a vidalia onion vinaigrette was served, followed by filet mignon over potato fingerlings and broccoli.  The dessert, though, was the kicker --- check this out!

A chocolate boxing glove filled with various other chocolates - oh YUMMY!!!

I then watched two girls box each other - April Richards of Nashville and Natasha Bergeron of Mississippi:

My friend Pamela Coyle and I then went out to look at the Silent Auction items and watch the Live Auction from above the crowd - a cloud of cigar smoke encircled us from up high!

Three Wishes were Granted in the Live Auction:  Heather (Chronic Kidney Disease) is going to Disney World, Halie (cancer) is going on a shopping spree with her best friends and Bradford (Hodgkins Lymphoma) is going to Hawaii!  Everyone was so generous in their giving!

Other Live Auction Items included a Florida Summer Concert Getaway with Kenny Chesney, the Ultimate NASCAR Fan Package (a helmet signed by every Spring Cup Series Drivers, 4 tickets and 4 Pit passes to a NASCAR Race of the winner's choice) and a Private Tuscany Villa Vacation.  Silent Auction items included everything from Original Artwork by Lisa English and Bridgette Tatum to Instruments signed by famous artists to spa packages!

But still there was more!!!

Monty Powell, Greg Barnhill, Danny Myrick and Kirsti Manna (sorry, my poor photography skills did not get Kirsti in the pic) provided entertainment as they performed their hit songs!

And last, but certainly one of the most exciting parts of the night was the boxing match between RCA Records' Keith Gale and Curb Records' Adrian Michaels!  The music industry crowd was on its feet for this match - the two put on a great show and really pounded each other, but Keith Gale did come out on top!

Again, my poor photography skills did not allow the action shots to come out in any kind of viewable way... but that's Keith on the left and Adrian on the right.

The Alabama Blues Brothers were loads of fun to watch and I even danced a little!

Carolyn Miller and Danny Myrick gave me a great shot to close out the night...

Carolyn was the one that put this whole thing together and she is an extraordinary person with a huge heart for raising so much money for the Charley Foundation - way to go Carolyn!

How cool is this? I love the pictures, you are certainly getting out and enjoying some great live music (I am also a fan) and this sounded like a great and worthy benefit. When I was in my teens I boxed at summer camp and also at the YMCA. I enjoyed it a lot but did not have the "killer" instinct. I mean, I wanted to win but not hurt anyone...LOL. Anyway, the idea of a chocolate/chocolate filled boxing glove is much more to my tastes these days!
